Keisla Johnson Car Accident, Alexandria LA Death, 35-year-old dies on Third Street crash

Authorities have charged a local driver following a fatal bicycle crash at the intersection of Concord Street and Gorman Road on Wednesday morning.

Framingham police responded to reports of a crash at approximately 9:50 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old man from Framingham suffering serious injuries alongside his damaged adaptive three-wheeled bicycle. Emergency medical technicians transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.

According to police reports, the driver responsible for the collision initially fled the scene. Following an investigation, Framingham Police located and arrested 69-year-old Paulo Castro, a Framingham resident. The Middlesex District Attorney’s office confirmed that Castro faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash. He is scheduled for an arraignment today at Framingham District Court.

Footage from WCVB captured the aftermath of the crash, showing police tape surrounding the entrance to Gorman Road. Personal items belonging to the victim—including a bike helmet, backpack, and bike lock—were scattered across the pavement at the intersection.

The crash occurred at a signalized intersection with painted crosswalks on three of its four legs. Concord Street, also known as Route 126, typically has two lanes of traffic, with an additional left-turn lane leading onto Gorman Road. Gorman Road is a one-way street and one of the few in the area that does not terminate in a dead-end.

Data from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s IMPACT crash database shows that this intersection has a history of collisions. Over the past five years, 29 crashes have been recorded, including nine incidents resulting in non-fatal injuries. Of those, three involved cyclists and one involved a pedestrian.

Framingham officials note that the city adopted a citywide 25 mph speed limit in 2019 in an effort to reduce accidents and enhance safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. Despite these measures, intersections like Concord and Gorman continue to pose risks due to traffic patterns and the volume of vehicles during peak hours.

Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and police urge anyone with additional information or witnesses to come forward. The tragic death serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance for both drivers and cyclists.

As the community mourns the loss of the Framingham man, the arrest and pending arraignment of the suspect mark a step toward accountability for this fatal incident.
