FORT WAYNE, IN – The Fort Wayne Police Department and Allen County Coroner’s Office have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Fort Wayne’s east side Tuesday night. The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Coliseum Boulevard.
Authorities report that 44-year-old Shannon Joy Lamb of Fort Wayne was crossing the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Coliseum Boulevard. Emergency personnel responded promptly to the scene, but Lamb sustained fatal injuries. On Thursday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Lamb died from multiple blunt force injuries caused by the motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
“This is a tragic loss for our community,” said a Fort Wayne Police Department spokesperson. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Ms. Lamb during this incredibly difficult time.”
Tuesday night’s crash marks the 37th fatal crash in Allen County this year, highlighting ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in the area.
