Saint John Bus Accident, 43-year-old woman killed, Saint John police investigates

A tragic early-morning collision in east Saint John claimed the life of a 43-year-old woman on Thursday after she was struck by a Saint John Transit bus shortly after 6 a.m. Authorities say the fatal incident occurred along a stretch of Loch Lomond Road near McDonald Street, a busy commuter route for both motorists and transit vehicles.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the area at approximately 6:10 a.m., responding to multiple reports of a pedestrian being struck. Despite the rapid arrival of first responders, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released her name, citing the need to protect the family’s privacy, who have since been notified of the tragedy.

Saint John Police, along with forensic services and the coroner’s office, remain actively involved in the investigation. Staff Sergeant Sarah Hobbs, speaking on behalf of the department, said it is still too early to determine exactly how the collision occurred.

“We do have investigators assigned to this, and there were witnesses on scene that were able to provide information to us,” Hobbs said. She emphasized that the investigation is in its early stages, and police are working carefully to gather all available evidence.

The section of Loch Lomond Road between McDonald Street and Courtenay Avenue was temporarily closed through the morning as officers surveyed the scene and collected information. The road reopened early in the afternoon once initial investigative work was completed, though police say additional interviews and reviews of surveillance footage will continue.

Investigators are now appealing to anyone who may have been driving through the area at the time of the collision. Hobbs encouraged residents and commuters with dashcam recordings or any video taken near the Loch Lomond and McDonald intersection to contact the police. These recordings, she said, may be critical in helping piece together the events leading up to the fatal crash.

In addition to police statements, the City of Saint John released a public message expressing condolences to the victim’s family and acknowledging the emotional toll the incident has had on those involved. The city said it is fully co-operating with the investigation and is also supporting Saint John Transit employees during what it called a difficult and upsetting time.

“Recognizing the impact an incident like this can have on everyone involved, the city is committed to providing support,” the statement read. Officials added that, out of respect for the family and to avoid interfering with the ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

As police continue their work, the community is left mourning the sudden loss of a woman whose morning commute ended in tragedy. Authorities expect to release updates as more details become available.

  • Meaza Brown Car Accident, South Philly, PA Death, Woman killed in hit-and-run in University City

Meaza Brown Car Accident, South Philly, PA Death, Woman killed in hit-and-run in University City

A routine walk to work turned tragic early Thursday morning when a 48-year-old woman was struck and killed by a speeding vehicle that fled the scene in University City. Philadelphia Police say the fatal hit-and-run occurred just before 4:30 a.m. at the busy intersection of 33rd and Market streets, directly on Drexel University’s campus.

Authorities identified the victim as Meaza Brown, a South Philadelphia resident who was heading to work with three co-workers when the crash occurred. According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, Brown and her colleagues were lawfully crossing Market Street when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed barreled into her. The impact was so forceful that Brown was thrown several hundred feet.

“She was hit with such force that she was launched out of her sneakers,” Small said, describing the devastating scene.

Emergency responders rushed Brown to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at approximately 4:45 a.m. Her co-workers, though shaken, were uninjured and provided critical information to investigators.

Police say the vehicle did not slow down or stop. After striking Brown, the driver continued eastbound toward 30th Street Station without attempting to render aid.

Working quickly, investigators reviewed surveillance cameras from nearby buildings and SEPTA stations, which provided a clear description of the car: a silver Chrysler 300. Officers also obtained a license plate number from the video footage.

By midday, police announced a significant development. Around noon, officers located a silver Chrysler 300 believed to be the vehicle involved. It was found parked near 34th and Race streets, just a few blocks from the crash site. Detectives have since secured the vehicle as evidence.

As of early afternoon Thursday, police had not yet made an arrest, though investigators said the case is progressing. The driver, they say, will likely face serious charges once identified and taken into custody.

Brown’s death has sent shockwaves through both the University City community and among early-morning workers in the area. With classes beginning later in the morning, student foot traffic was light at the time of the crash, but many on campus expressed alarm at the speed of vehicles that routinely travel Market Street during the early hours.

Investigators are urging anyone with additional information or footage to contact Philadelphia Police.

As the search for the driver continues, Brown’s family, friends, and co-workers are left grieving a sudden and senseless loss—one that could have been avoided had the driver stopped. Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Walter Fair Johnson, III, a man remembered for his unwavering faith, gentle leadership, and lifelong devotion to his community, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on June 17, 1947, in Mansfield, Louisiana, he lived a life deeply rooted in service — to God, to his family, and to the people of Northwest Louisiana.

Growing up in Mansfield, “Walter Fair” embraced the lessons taught by the land and by a close-knit rural community. Life on the family farm instilled in him a strong work ethic, humility, and a dedication to helping others. As a boy, he developed passions that shaped his early years — riding horses, hunting, playing the saxophone in his high school band, and even preaching to the congregation at First Baptist Mansfield. His achievements were many, including earning the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction he carried proudly throughout his life.

After graduating high school, Walter Fair attended Louisiana Tech University, where he studied accounting and quickly became an active and respected campus leader. He served as Vice President and then President of the Student Union, earned a place in the distinguished “Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities,” and joined ROTC. Upon completing the program, he was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force — an accomplishment that paved the way for his law education at LSU through the GI Bill.

In the summer of 1970, he married his beloved Sissy, beginning a 55-year partnership marked by faithfulness, mutual respect, and a deep, enduring love. Together, they built a family while balancing his military commitments and the rigors of law school. When his studies were complete, the two returned home to Northwest Louisiana, where he began the legal career that would span more than four decades.

Practicing law in Shreveport, Walter Fair became a trusted advisor to families across the region. He specialized in wills, family successions, and mineral and land matters tied to Louisiana’s oil and gas fields. Known for his clarity, fairness, and dependability, he built a reputation as an attorney whose word could be relied upon and whose counsel was offered with unwavering integrity.

His deepest identity, however, was shaped by his faith. A devoted member and elder at Christian Center of Shreveport, he rarely missed a service and spent years teaching children’s Sunday school, leading weekly communion, and supporting the church in countless quiet ways. His family affectionately called him “Pop,” a name that captured his warmth and the steady presence he brought into every gathering. Whether celebrating birthdays, organizing holiday meals, or simply offering a listening ear, he made others feel valued.

He leaves behind his cherished wife, Elizabeth “Sissy” Waller Johnson; four children — Walter F. Johnson IV, Elizabeth Noel Johnson, Erin Johnson Bailey (Adam), and Andrew Hollis Johnson; and his beloved grandchildren Ava, Madison, Arabella, and Scarlett.

Authorities report that 44-year-old Shannon Joy Lamb of Fort Wayne was crossing the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Coliseum Boulevard. Emergency personnel responded promptly to the scene, but Lamb sustained fatal injuries. On Thursday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Lamb died from multiple blunt force injuries caused by the motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

“This is a tragic loss for our community,” said a Fort Wayne Police Department spokesperson. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Ms. Lamb during this incredibly difficult time.”

Tuesday night’s crash marks the 37th fatal crash in Allen County this year, highlighting ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in the area. North Coliseum Boulevard, a busy thoroughfare with multiple lanes of traffic, has long been noted for high vehicle speeds, making safe crossings a challenge for pedestrians.

Details regarding the driver involved in the crash have not been released, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police are reviewing traffic camera footage, witness statements, and vehicle data as part of the investigation. No charges have been announced at this time.

The Fort Wayne Police Department asks anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact the department directly. Investigators are working to determine the precise circumstances that led to this tragic event and hope to provide answers to Lamb’s family as soon as possible.

  • Paulo Castro Accident, 69-year-old Framingham resident arrested after hit and run crash

Paulo Castro Accident, 69-year-old Framingham resident arrested after hit and run crash

Authorities have charged a local driver following a fatal bicycle crash at the intersection of Concord Street and Gorman Road on Wednesday morning.

Framingham police responded to reports of a crash at approximately 9:50 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old man from Framingham suffering serious injuries alongside his damaged adaptive three-wheeled bicycle. Emergency medical technicians transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.

According to police reports, the driver responsible for the collision initially fled the scene. Following an investigation, Framingham Police located and arrested 69-year-old Paulo Castro, a Framingham resident. The Middlesex District Attorney’s office confirmed that Castro faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash. He is scheduled for an arraignment today at Framingham District Court.

Footage from WCVB captured the aftermath of the crash, showing police tape surrounding the entrance to Gorman Road. Personal items belonging to the victim—including a bike helmet, backpack, and bike lock—were scattered across the pavement at the intersection.

The crash occurred at a signalized intersection with painted crosswalks on three of its four legs. Concord Street, also known as Route 126, typically has two lanes of traffic, with an additional left-turn lane leading onto Gorman Road. Gorman Road is a one-way street and one of the few in the area that does not terminate in a dead-end.

Data from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s IMPACT crash database shows that this intersection has a history of collisions. Over the past five years, 29 crashes have been recorded, including nine incidents resulting in non-fatal injuries. Of those, three involved cyclists and one involved a pedestrian.

Framingham officials note that the city adopted a citywide 25 mph speed limit in 2019 in an effort to reduce accidents and enhance safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. Despite these measures, intersections like Concord and Gorman continue to pose risks due to traffic patterns and the volume of vehicles during peak hours.

Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and police urge anyone with additional information or witnesses to come forward. The tragic death serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance for both drivers and cyclists.

As the community mourns the loss of the Framingham man, the arrest and pending arraignment of the suspect mark a step toward accountability for this fatal incident.
